Privacy Policy

We collect the following information when you use LoSo:

• Account information: phone number (required to sign in), and optionally your first name, last name, username, profile photo, and zipcode.
• Content you create: events you create or RSVP to, circles you join, friends you connect with, places you save, follow, hide, or block.
• Device information: push notification tokens (only if you opt in to notifications), and basic technical metadata such as device type and operating system version included in network requests.
• Communications: messages you send us by email.

We do not collect precise location (GPS). We use the zipcode you provide to show you nearby events.

• To operate the Service and provide its core features.
• To verify your identity at sign-in using a one-time SMS code.
• To show you relevant local events, friends, and recommendations.
• To send you push notifications you've opted in to.
• To respond to your support requests.
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate LoSo. They process data on our behalf and only for the purposes listed below:

• Twilio — sends the one-time verification code to your phone number at sign-in.
• Tigris (object storage) — stores profile photos you upload.
• OpenAI — powers some discovery and categorization features. We send event and place text (not your personal identifiers) to generate descriptions and categories.
• Fly.io — hosts our backend and website.
• Apple Push Notification service — delivers push notifications to your device (if enabled).

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LoSo, our users, or others.

Your username, name, and profile photo are visible to other LoSo users — including people who view circles you're in, friends' activity, or events you RSVP to. RSVPs and posts inside a circle are visible only to that circle's members. Your phone number is never shared with other users.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, friend connections, circles, RSVPs, and uploaded photos within 30 days. We may retain a minimal record of the deletion (a hash of your phone number and a timestamp) to comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse.

• Access and update. You can view and edit your profile in the app under Profile → Account Settings.
• Delete. You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Account Settings → Delete account, or by emailing [email protected].
• Notifications. Turn push notifications off at any time in your device settings.
• State privacy rights. Depending on where you live (e.g., California, Virginia, Colorado), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to opt out of certain processing. Email us to exercise these rights.

LoSo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls on our backend. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
